Beth lies about being raped (or that’s what the reader is supposed to believe). Emily is forgotten because she isn’t on the squad anymoreīeth isn’t raped (she could’ve been but there isn’t as much evidence as there was in the show). The problem is that Beth is the only one light enough to be on top and strong enough to hold Emily and Tacy. Coach puts a JV in her place to hold up Tacy and Emily for a stunt. Emily is the one who gets hurt, not RiRi (she falls and tears a ligament in her knee, this time the accident is directly coach’s fault.) Beth was suspended for not showing up to practice. She actually loses weight and becomes very thin. Her mom is barely mentioned in the book and in the show.Įmily (the one who coach tells to lose weight) is a much more important character. Addy seems ashamed almost about the hookup and that’s why Beth says Addy is changing.īeth’s dad isn’t a character in the book and Tacy isn’t her sister. Addy hooked up (Addy initiates) with her the day before camp, only to bunk with Casey the next day and ignore what happened. Beth actually has a good reason to be upset. Beth says some nasty things about Addy and Casey and is clearly jealous. Beth says that Casey started a bunch of rumors about Addy. Addy didn’t hang out with her at cheer camp, instead she bunked with a girl named Casey Jaye. She lies about everything, to some extent. The first season goes through about 2/3 of the book (which means there will probably be another season, and the way the book ended, it leaves room for another novel)īeth is portrayed as much more controlling and manipulative. Since the book is in first person, basically all of the scenes without Addy don’t happen in the book. They do a pretty good job of representing the book.
